BBB Structure
BBB is the authority on trust in the marketplace. BBB sets and upholds high standards for ethical marketplace behavior. BBB accreditation is a coveted honor earned by elite businesses and charities. BBB is the preeminent resource to turn to for objective, unbiased information on businesses and charities. Our free BBB Reliability Reports and BBB Wise Giving Reports help you make the right purchasing or donation decision. BBB is also a significant distributor of consumer and business education information and tips and alerts about marketplace scams. BBB also offers dispute resolution programs for consumers and businesses when there is difference in viewpoints.

BBB Accreditation
If a business has been accredited by the BBB, it means BBB has determined that the business meets accreditation standards which include a commitment to make a good faith effort to resolve any consumer complaints. BBB accredited businesses pay a fee for accreditation review/monitoring and for support of BBB services to the public.
BBB Code of Business Practices represents standards for business accreditation by BBB. Businesses based in the United States and Canada that meet these standards and complete all application procedures will be accredited by BBB. The Code is built on the BBB Standards for Trust, eight principles that summarize important elements of creating and maintaining trust in business.
BBB accreditation does not mean that the business’ products or services have been evaluated or endorsed by BBB, or that BBB has made a determination as to the business’ product quality or competency in performing services.
Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation
BBB Auto Line & Dispute Resolution
Founded in 1978, BBB AUTO LINE is the nation's oldest and most respected auto warranty dispute resolution program. Information about BBB AUTO LINE rules, procedures and participating manufacturers is included on this site to help you understand the process.
BBB AUTO LINE proceedings are informal. In fact, most cases can be resolved through telephone discussions facilitated by BBB staff. Disputes not resolved by agreement may proceed to arbitration.
Arbitration is an informal hearing at which the consumer and manufacturer's representative present their views of a dispute to a neutral third party, the arbitrator, who will decide how the dispute will be resolved.
BBB's goal is to successfully resolve complaints involving buyers and sellers in a fair and timely fashion. This includes complaints involving consumer-to-business and business-to-business transactions that involve the advertisement and/or sale of a product or service. Information concerning the nature and resolution of complaints filed with BBB is used in developing BBB Reliability Reports on companies
BBB Online
BBBOnLine promotes trust and confidence on the Internet by allowing businesses with Web sites to display the BBB Accredited Business seal online following confirmation of their adherence to the BBB Code of Business Practices, including its online standard.
BBBOnLine sealholders are BBB Accredited Businesses. As part of the accreditation process, the business has been determined to meet truth in advertising guidelines, to disclose information about their business and its policies, to follow basic privacy and security practices, and to respond appropriately to problems that arise.
Search the database of online businesses that have met our standards for trustworthy Web sites to find the goods or services you need. And when you see a BBB Accredited Business seal on a Web site, be sure to click on it. The seal should link to a page confirming the business is BBB accredited. Be cautious if the seal is not linked to a BBB page confirming accredited business status. It could be a sign of unauthorized use of the mark.
