Conventional Concrete Shelters

Conventional Concrete Shelters

Better Built:
Our conventional concreted shelters have a very smooth professional interior finish that is very light in color. This is due to the extreme density of the concrete which has a pressure rating of 6,000 lbs. per square inch.

Better Features:
The 30" wide door allows convenient access and has a pressurized gas strut for easy opening and closing. Features include 3 heavy duty weld-on hinges with grease fittings for lubrication and 3 latches including the popular center safety latch which allows the door to be opened from the inside even if it was padlocked from the outside!!!

Better Access:
The wide staircase area is 64" long with handrails on both sides and anti-skid strips on each step. the angle of the staircase is not steep, making entrance and exit safe, quick and easy. We believe that this is very important when choosing the right shelter.

Pre-Fabricated Saferooms

Pre-Fabricated Saferooms

Our steel safe room was successfully tested at the official FEMA Debris Impact Test Center, located at Texas Tech University to withstand an EF-5 rated tornado. In addition, it was evaluated and approved by McDonald-Mehta Engineering, LLP to structurally bear the wind load of a 250 mph tornado. McDonald-Mehta Engineering are the #1 wind engineering scientists in the world and have been selected by the National Weather Service to develop the new Enhanced Fujita (EF) Scale, which rates the tornado strength categories.

We are proud members of the National Storm Shelter Association (NSSA). Each of our safe rooms are issued a certification of installation bearing its own unique serial number registered with the NSSA.

Our shelters can be placed inside, which will keep you from having to go outdoors to reach safety. The steel doors are 30" or 36" wide weighing 250 lbs to offer maximum protection. Our doors open inward to prevent entrapment. The removable air vent deflector covers keep out flying debris and are easily removed to allow quick access to the inside door latches. The three 1" steel door latches hold the door securely shut. Each of the three hinges has a removable pin for easy door removal.

Three-fourths inch Hilti/Redhead anchor bolts set 13" apart which greatly exceeds FEMA 320 recommended standards offering maximum protection. It takes approximately 11,000 lbs of wind pressure to shear each bolt off and about 14,000 lbs to pull straight out. Even a small 4' x 6' x 6' safe room has at least 12 anchor bolts holding it securely in place. These bolts can withstand 84 tons of upward force.
